Sticking with Tradition

Traditional Style

Do you enjoy a more formal look and feel in your home? Do you crave order, calm, and understated detail? This is traditional design. Comforting and classic, Traditional style is so popular that there is an entire magazine devoted to it.

Most Traditional pieces are based on designs from 18th and 19th Century Europe. Furniture and accessories have gentle curves, classical motifs, and understated details. Even the language we use to describe the style is more formal. The fabrics used in Traditional interiors are luxurious florals, velvets, plaids, stripes, geometrics, and tone-on-tone patterns.

Traditional color palettes can be in neutrals or even jewel tones. Many times you will see furniture and accessories placed in symmetrical arrangements. Lots of pairs. Wallpaper and layered window treatments are also commonly used in this decorating style.
