This style is also called Retro Style. It actually refers to the period from 1945-1965 and sometimes into the early 1970’s. If you are turned on by clean lines and unadorned interiors then this style is one you may like.
The materials used for furnishings from this period are from the war years and simple and quick to build. Natural materials such as wood, leather, and linen, and molded plywood and plastic with polished metals were all popular in this period. Many of the furniture pieces are still made today.
Are you into white walls and bare floors, sofas and chairs on plain legs with neutral colored area rugs? What about very little accessories to clutter up your space? Or hints of color with lots of wood? This decorating style is very simple and clean with lots of textural finishes instead of ornamental details. Mid-Century Modern is a more correct name for it, and this style can be casual or formal depending on which feeling is right for you.
